About the position

The Sr. Human Resources Generalist will administer various human resource plans and procedures for all employees, assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, and prepare and maintain the employee handbook and policies and procedures manual. This role includes administering LOA programs, processing applicable paperwork and disability claims, and developing and maintaining the affirmative action program. The Generalist will handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing, while also assisting in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals. The position requires maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment and facilitating training on HR-related topics. The Generalist will respond to the DOL regarding unemployment information requests and assist on special projects as requested. Keeping abreast of changes in HR law to maintain compliance is also essential.

Responsibilities

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all employees.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.

  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program and files EEO-1 report annually.
  • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Facilitates training on HR-related topics.
  • Responds to the DOL pertaining to unemployment information requests.
  • Assists on special projects as requested.
  • Drives an actively engaged culture through positive interactions with the hourly workforce.
  • Communicates, interprets, and enforces all company policies and practices.
  • Manages headcount and executes staffing strategy that supports business needs.
  • Works with Operations Leaders to develop effective new hire onboarding programs.
  • Leads Retention and Rewards and Recognition Employee Involvement Teams.
  • Oversees all corrective actions/discipline to assure compliance with Company policy.
  • Oversees administrative process around data management including new hire setup and associate information management.
  • Assures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements such as FMLA, ADA, FLSA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or 5 years on-the-job experience as a Human Resource Generalist.
  • Minimum of 3 years Human Resources work experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of employees and management.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including EEO, ADA, and FMLA.
  • Strong drive for results to lead and facilitate efforts to ensure HR alignment with the company.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, preferably ADP.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal directly with line management and hourly workforce.
  • Strong project management and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities.
  • Ability to lead with empathy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Ability to lead others.
