About The Position

This position requires a highly skilled and experienced mechanic responsible for performing advanced preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy equipment vehicles and compactor/balers. The ideal candidate will have at least 5+ years of journey-level or senior level experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment and will possess expert level technical knowledge to diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems. This role involves leading by example, mentoring jr technicians, and working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership & communication skills, attention to detail and a commitment to safety, productivity and high quality work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment required
  • Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with heavy truck systems and components
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with co-workers, team members, and customers, both verbally and in writing
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, following broad direction and handling high-pressure environments
  • Read and understand complex mechanical, electrical, and maintenance information, including repair manuals and schematics
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems in vehicles and equipment
  • Maintain physical ability to repair, replace, and install various equipment, including operating tools, power equipment, and diagnostic systems
  • Perform work in outdoor and indoor environments, handling exposure to weather, chemicals, hazardous substances, and dangerous equipment
  • Use specialized equipment like scan tools, welders, and diagnostic devices to perform repairs and maintenance
  • Operate and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, and other key components
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues and communicate technical information clearly to diverse audiences
  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License is strongly preferred
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality standards and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced-level preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
  • Lead diagnostic efforts and provide guidance to other technicians on complex repairs
  • Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs diesel engines, automatic electronic transmissions and transaxles, manual drive trains and axles, drive shafts, differentials, suspension and steering systems, hydraulic/air/anti-lock brake systems, electrical and electronic systems, heating and air conditioning systems, low-pressure air systems, fuel systems, lubrication systems, exhaust systems, hydraulic systems, radio systems, and other types of communication equipment
  • Performs preventive maintenance, repairs and overhauls diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment
  • Generates and maintains vehicle and equipment maintenance records and work orders; makes emergency service calls when necessary and assists other Mechanics as needed
  • Punctual, regular and reliable attendance is essential for successful job performance
