About The Position

The Bureau of Social Care and Community Supports works to integrate health and human services within the Medicaid program. The bureau is composed of two units, Housing and Social Determinants of Health. This position is in the Social Determinants of Health unit and will assist with implementation of a new certification process for medical respite programs (MRPs) in NYS. The position will have primary responsibility for evaluating MRP compliance with physical site requirements established in 10 NYCRR §1007.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• 8 years of professional experience
• Valid driver’s license required
• Certified Building Safety Inspector (BSI) qualified to perform fire safety and property maintenance inspections pursuant to 19 NYCRR Part 1208 or willingness to attend on-the-job trainings and pass exams to obtain BSI certification.
• Solid writing and verbal communication skills
• General familiarity with Windows operating system and common software, such as Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Pro.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred experience doing surveillance or compliance.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating floor plans, fire safety surveys, and building inspection documentation submitted with MRP certification applications.
• Conducting on-site inspections of MRPs to verify compliance with 10 NYCRR §1007, 2020 Building Code of New York State, and 2020 Fire Code of New York State.
• Assisting with development of inspection tool, desk audit tool, guidance documents, and/or training materials related to MRP physical site requirements.
• Assisting with other aspects of application processing and MRP performance evaluation, such as engaging with applicant MRPs to clarify physical site information and/or obtain missing documentation.
• Responding to relevant stakeholder questions submitted to the team’s shared mailbox.
• Collaborating with external contractor to develop workflows for site inspections and desk audits.
