Serves as a business intelligence consultant to various department leaders in providing advanced technical and analytic support for strategic and healthcare initiatives within Trinity Health. Applies statistical techniques and quantitative methods in reviewing data to develop scorecards, benchmarking studies, or integrated ad hoc analyses. Contributes and participates with other teams such as but not limited to: Health Informatics, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Revenue and Finance as needed to provide insights for strategic initiatives to leaders across the healthcare system. Supports analytic design, data collection, and measure reporting are in accordance with national and professional society standards and support various clinical initiatives aligned with achievement of the triple aim. Develops analytical and statistical skill set to research and make recommendations on business problems, develop and implement data driven strategies to support key initiatives. In addition to advanced analytic skills, this role requires proficiency in integrating and preparing large varied datasets from multiple data sources, consolidating to be able to draw conclusions supporting and communicating results with healthcare and operational stakeholders. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices and decisions. Serves as a subject matter expert by providing guidance and by problem solving solutions. Provides analytic consultation in collaboration with other team members (clinical leaders, project managers, other analysts, etc.) in identifying analytic options and opportunities in supporting the project goals. Researches measure definitions, algorithms, published journal articles, quality programs, and statistical methods to make appropriate recommendations to support goals. Develops queries and provides guidance to Level I and II Healthcare Data Analysts to source high-volume, high-dimensionality data from multiple complex databases. Cleans and manipulates data as appropriate for report generation, dashboard creation, or simple to moderately complex statistical analysis. Comfortable working with data in the capacity of a programmer. Regularly monitors performance of many key performance indicators, highlights trends, examines interactions in metrics, and identifies opportunities for improvements to leaders and stakeholders. Leads in the creation of presentations, publications, website postings, and applications in collaborations with other stakeholders. Draws strategic and tactical conclusions from data analyses through summarization, interpretation, and visualization of data so to make recommendations to clinical leadership in an easy to understand communication format. Builds strong relationships internally and collaborates effectively on cross-functional teams. Develops trusted relationships through efficient, high-quality execution of analyses and effective communication regarding expectations and timelines. Provides technical, operational guidance and direction to Level I and II Healthcare Data Analysts. Responsible for leading multiple large analytics projects both independently and as a team leader including: Reviewing and modifies existing systems including coding, testing, debugging, and documentation Responsibility for the checks for validity and reproducibility of analyses Maintains routine reporting and ensures completeness and accuracy of reports The design and development of datasets from multiple data sources Works in partnership with Trinity Information Services in support of development and maintenance of data applications, clinical databases, and vendor systems housing clinical content. Other duties as needed and assigned by the Director, Healthcare Analytics. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of data and analytics as normally obtained through a master's degree in Epidemiology, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or other technical concentration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five to seven (5-7) years of relevant operational, technical, healthcare or clinical experience is desired.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be well organized and possess the ability to work with minimal supervision, which includes setting one’s own priorities and actively seeking direction in case of conflict.
  • Must be able to make decisions based on logical thinking and ethical principles.
  • Hold a working knowledge of quality improvement principles, theory, study design and statistical modeling and possess a continuous learner attitude.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills required, specifically in Excel.
  • Proficient with statistical or analytic software systems such as SAS, R, SPSS, etc.
  • Extensive experience with relational databases and general programming languages (SQL or Python).
  • Expert knowledge with various data reporting and visualization software (Tableau, Qlikview, Business Objects, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaborative partnerships using a team approach to span traditional boundaries within a health care setting.
  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
