About The Position

The Senior Health Information Management (HIM) Medical Records Specialist serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for the HIM team, demonstrating service excellence while ensuring the accuracy, security, and timely processing of patient health information. This role supports training, provides guidance to peers and new hires, and performs advanced HIM functions such as duplicate medical record resolution, encounter merges, and oversight of the physician suspension process. The Senior HIM Specialist ensures compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA, and accrediting body requirements, while safeguarding patient safety and continuity of care. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years Health Information/Medical Records experience.
• High School Diploma/GED required.

Nice To Haves

• Vocational/Technical School/Diploma preferred.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
