About The Position

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Health & Benefits team at Mercer, a Marsh business. This role will be based in Houston and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week either in the office or at a client site. As a Senior Health & Benefits Consulting Analyst, you will work closely with the team in the strategy, design, implementation, and administration of client companies’ health and welfare programs. Managing the RFP process, crafting client communications, and collaborating with internal teams and external carriers will be key to driving successful outcomes. This is great opportunity to build strong client relationships while gaining deep expertise in health and group benefits! We will count on you to: Support the consulting team by gathering, organizing, entering, and analyzing data in Excel for client projects, with an emphasis on results analysis and project management Collect and interpret vendor network offerings and financial proposals via RFPs, summarizing findings in Excel or PowerPoint for client presentations Develop cost projections and vendor renewal evaluations to inform client meetings Manage the quality and timeliness of client deliverables, assist with budget reports, participate in client and vendor calls, prepare clear communications, and resolve most issues, escalating complex matters as needed Build foundational knowledge of products, services, vendor markets, underwriting, financial skills, and technical tools through training, online courses, and mentorship

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 0-3 years of experience in the health industry or HR; professional internship experience at the minimum
  • Demonstrated quantitative analytical skills
  • Strong business acumen paired with intellectual curiosity
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Capacity to multitask, manage competing priorities with strong time management skills
  • Ability to exercise independent thinking
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, both independently and in a team environment
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office — Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with benefits, insurance, underwriting, and/or risk management
  • Advanced Excel skills; VLOOKUP and other formulas, pivot tables

Responsibilities
