About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Hardware Test Engineer-Digital Key to join our team, focused on developing best-in-class automotive Digital Key systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in digital key component, system, and vehicle integration test planning and validation particularly for systems involving BLE and UWB technology. The Digital Key Sr. Hardware Test Engineer will be responsible for testing and verification of digital key component, system, and vehicle integration testing to verify functionality and performance of Digital Key technologies across all GM vehicles and architectures. This role is tightly coupled to cross-functional teams, including vehicle integration, product management, software development, and quality teams to ensure high quality launches of the Digital Key system across GM’s portfolio of vehicles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in system or integration test engineering, with a focus on wireless or connectivity systems.
  • Proven expertise in BLE, UWB, NFC, and other short-range wireless technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with test and debug tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers, and wireless/RF test equipment.
  • Experience developing, executing, and documenting test plans, test cases, and defect reports, including use of test management and defect tracking tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work through complex integration and system issues.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive system or integration test engineering, with a focus on wireless or connectivity systems.
  • Experience with design-for-testability (DFT) concepts and how they impact integration and validation strategies in high-volume production environments.
  • Experience working with global suppliers and managing hardware development integration and validation activities across multiple geographies.
  • Understanding of digital key ecosystems, including mobile device interoperability, credential provisioning, and secure communication protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross functional teams to develop and execute component and vehicle integration test strategies (including HIL, bench, and in-vehicle tests), test plans, and test cases to Digital Key functionality and performance.
  • Work with vehicle integration teams on vehicle integration and packaging of Digital Key components to ensure robustness of wireless performance and radiation patterns due to packaging constraints and EMC interference of other systems.
  • Analyze test results, vehicle logs, and RF measurements to identify defects, characterize issues, and drive resolution with cross-functional teams.
  • Report to senior leaders on project status, roadblocks, and escalation requests.
