Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering team creates compute and storage server designs for Amazon’s web services. Requirements

  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
  • Experience in server technologies such as thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years experience with design and manufacturing processes.
  • 5+ years experience leading ODMs and other suppliers in product development and manufacturing processes.
  • In-depth expertise in one or more server technologies such as Thermal/Mechanical design, high speed bus design and signal integrity, failure analysis, server components (e.g. CPU, GPU, SSDs, drives), BIOS, BMC, and networking.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
  • 10+ years hardware development with a focus on system/server development in compute and/or storage server architecture and design for large scale applications.
  • Expertise in early product definition and feature tradeoff analysis.
  • Experience with server validation and issue root causing.
  • Experience with deploying and operating hardware and applications across large data centers.
  • Proficient scripting, debug abilities, and Linux operations commands.
  • Experience with leading hardware and software development engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the design and development of server products utilizing a wide range of design and manufacturing partners.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their technical needs and business goals.
  • Leverage experience with server design and knowledge of various teams to architect solutions for deployment at scale.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team of component, firmware, test, qualification, and integration engineers.
  • Lead design and manufacturing partners to bring servers to the data center.
  • Oversee the fleet of servers developed, monitoring their quality and customer requirements.
  • Constantly look for ways to improve product performance, quality, and cost.
