The Senior Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) Engineer at Blue Canyon Technologies is responsible for the full GNC subsystem across multiple space missions, from initial business development to on-orbit operations. This role involves leading the development of new capabilities and features for GNC subsystems, ensuring the successful design, analysis, testing, and deployment of systems for small spacecraft. The position also includes mentoring junior engineers and may involve personnel management responsibilities.

  • Design, analyze, test, and deploy GN&C subsystems for small spacecraft ranging from CubeSat to ESPA-class.
  • Develop new GN&C technologies to support customer needs and BCT strategic goals.
  • Lead the evolution of GN&C processes and tools/infrastructure.
  • Oversee GN&C hardware selection and performance details.
  • Participate in all mission phases including business development, design reviews, and on-orbit operations.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to younger engineers.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline and at least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of systems integration and testing experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on projects involving small and large teams.
  • Experience with running 6-DOF simulation.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with rapid prototyping.
  • Experience with configuration management and issue tracking tools.
  • Capability to independently develop new GN&C technology.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of spacecraft GN&C, including orbital mechanics and attitude dynamics.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft GN&C testing best practices.
  • Practical experience with orbital vehicles or autonomous systems, embedded software, and algorithmic design.
  • Experience with C and Ruby programming languages.
  • Experience with Model Based Design and auto-coding.
  • Previous experience with small satellites, especially small satellite GN&C.
  • Experience with simulator/hardware test development and mission operations.
  • Experience with simulator/hardware test development and execution.
  • Experience with mission operations.
