About The Position

As the Senior Group Underwriting Best Practice Analyst, you will be responsible for leading and executing initiatives with a strong focus on documentation, processes, tools, and training & development. That will require research, monitoring, and resolving/aligning market differences and gaps. You will play a key role in improving efficiency within Group Underwriting tools and processes, while supporting growth and persistency strategies.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree with a focus in Business Administration, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Group Underwriting experience, including exposure to various funding arrangements
  • Demonstrated understanding of customer needs and underwriting processes, with a solid awareness of related business areas
  • Broad understanding of how internal and external processes operate at Medavie Blue Cross
  • Strong underwriting and business acumen, with the ability to: Identify root causes of issues, evaluate alternative solutions and make sound, practical recommendations

Responsibilities

  • Support the Group Underwriting leadership team by aligning processes and tools, including (but not limited to): Online GUM, Access, Renewal Template Quote Template, Manual Rates Calculator, Case Initiative Identifier, Execution of the Group Underwriting Best Practice roadmap
  • Lead and implement best practice initiatives within the Underwriting team
  • Design and facilitate a training curriculum to support underwriters from entry level to experienced roles
  • Conduct quality reviews of complex underwriting cases and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Release the monthly Underwriting Bulletin when the Best Practice Analyst is unavailable
  • Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) for underwriting tools
  • Act as a liaison with internal partners (e.g., EIS, Finance, IT) and lead or contribute to mini projects as required
  • Provide guidance and support to the Group Underwriting Best Practice Analyst, as needed
