About the position

The Inn at Penn is looking for a dynamic Senior Group Sales Manager to secure groups and conventions by building and establishing relationships with customers. We're located on the University of Pennsylvania campus, across the street from The Wharton School. Drexel University and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia are a few blocks away and City Hall is 11 minutes from our door. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of hotel group sales experience and strong verbal/written communication skills. Seeking someone who has the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and pays attention to detail. If you enjoy building and maintaining client relationships within the Association, Corporate, Medical, Education, Professional, Sports, and social markets, come join our team!

Responsibilities

  • Research, solicit and generate new leads for group opportunities through database research and proactive sales efforts.
  • Represent the hotel in the development of market segment(s) and new customer relationships while maintaining existing relations with assigned accounts.
  • Develop a business strategy by analyzing historical, current and future hotel and market trends.
  • Actively engage with Hilton Worldwide Sales, Convention Bureau and Intermediaries to retain existing customers and secure new business for the Hotel.
  • Develop and execute plans to engage in outside sales calls, industry tradeshows and customer events.
  • Maintain up to date pipeline of business opportunities that will meet the short and long term business objectives for the designated market.
  • Conduct site inspections through masterful story telling with prospective and existing customers based on their individual needs.
  • Coordinate customer specifications via identified lead management system.
  • Create and execute plan to shift share from your competitors.
  • Negotiate contracts and commission agreements with end user customers and intermediaries.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of Hotel Sales experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Ability to travel on short notice and adaptable to schedule changes.
  • Highly professional presentations and oral and written communication skills.
