About The Position

The Senior Graphic Designer at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum has a strong knowledge of brand design and how it applies across marketing channels from print and digital communications to social and website experiences. They are versed in executing established brand standards, supporting the design and production of print and digital brand campaigns and email journey development. Additionally, the Senior Graphic Designer designs and builds website pages in Drupal in a manner that always takes User Experience (UX) and accessibility standards into account. The Senior Graphic Designer uses strong communication skills to collaborate with team partners and internal clients, synthesizing feedback to improve design and communication solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Graphic Design or another related field.
  • 5 or more years’ experience in the creative industry.
  • Must have an online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating strong creative direction and/or design acumen.
  • Highly proficient in print and digital design and production including Adobe Creative Suite, Drupal, Google Apps for business (Drive, Docs, Slides), Microsoft Office.
  • Self-starter who is a creative, detail-oriented, enthusiastic team player.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.?

Responsibilities

  • Supports the creative execution of brand content, including marketing campaigns, collateral, digital, emails, etc. while maintaining and monitoring standards across the Museum under the guidance of the Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Collaborates with internal Museum clients, team partners, and leadership to support the creative execution of brand and exhibition marketing campaigns that support the Museum’s strategic priorities and Isabella Stewart Gardner’s vision and legacy.
  • Supports the Museum’s website content strategy by planning, producing, and maintaining all content using Drupal and collaborates with peers, contributing departments, and IT to ensure content meets brand standards, goals, and UX and accessibility standards.
  • Coordinates with Marketing partners to produce creative event pages and brand-related web pages focused on new exhibitions, special events, and programming.
  • Works with the Digital Strategy Group and develops strategies for the reorganization or addition of information pages when requested by partners in the organization.
  • Ensures the Museum’s website style guide and online identity guidelines are maintained and updated in partnership with the Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • In partnership with the Marketing Specialist, the Senior Graphic Designer reports out on website usability issues and quality assurance of new production releases as needed and collaborates with the IT team and vendors on solutions.
  • Supports all phases of a project including estimating, design, production, purchasing, proofing, and archiving.
  • Helps manage a diverse group of freelance creatives in partnership with the Marketing Assistant and Director of Marketing and Communications with focus on brand guidelines, strategy, and quality, for a multitude of design, print, and digital projects.
  • Coordinates and directs design and proofreading freelance support staff as needed to support schedules.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications, helps maintain regular updates and enhancements of the Museum’s brand tools, ensuring they remain relevant and effective across various departments. This includes developing, maintaining, and refining the Museum’s brand book and standardized brand elements and templates to guarantee a consistent and cohesive brand experience.
  • Establishes strong work flows for all creative projects; coordinates with various departments and communicates out to stakeholders to ensure consistency with how all projects are managed.
  • Manages relationships and negotiations with printers and other outside vendors to achieve best practices.
  • Participates in and/or leads creative team brainstorming.
  • Researches and analyzes industry trends and maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and creative techniques.
  • Utilizes internal systems (Air and Monday) for project management and schedules stakeholder reviews, proofing, and asset sharing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
