About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno Office of Sponsored Projects (OSPA) is recruiting for a Senior Grants & Contracts Officer. This position reports to the Grants & Contracts Manager. The position’s primary responsibility consists of reviewing, negotiating, and processing of sponsored projects awards, grants, and contracts for University research faculty as well as preparation of sub-award agreements along with the risk assessment, compliance review and monitoring of subrecipients and subcontractors. The Senior Grants & Contracts Officer drafts original agreements and reviews the terms and conditions and negotiates changes as necessary of complex sponsored agreements such as non-profit organizations, local, state, and Federal government and private industry contracts issued to the University. The position serves as back-up to the Grants & Contracts Manager in his or her absence. The Senior Grants & Contracts Officer negotiates terms and conditions on clinical trials, and complex federal and state contracts. Additionally, the Senior Grants & Contracts Officer reviews template grant awards and contracts for compliance with university and NSHE policies and procedures, negotiates terms and conditions to meet said policies and procedures when necessary, assembles budgets and other documentation, and ensures compliance by university faculty with university policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements prior to set up of expenditure accounts. The position also assesses risk of prospective sub-award recipients, prepares sub-award agreements with necessary flow-down terms and conditions from the prime award, and ensures the proper signing and processing of all sub-award documents. The position provides input to the Grants & Contracts Manager in establishing practices and procedures of the group and devising and refining agreement templates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and Four years of related professional work experience or , Master’s Degree and Two years of related professional work experience
  • Related Experience: Experience in research compliance and administration

Responsibilities
