About The Position

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, provides comprehensive ad platforms for publishers, advertisers, and media buyers. Powered by premium video content, robust data, and advanced technology, we're making it easier for buyers and sellers to transact across all screens, data types, and sales channels. As a global company, we have offices in nine countries and can insert advertisements around the world. The position is responsible for planning and designing new software and web applications, analyzing, testing, and assisting with the integration of new applications, overseeing documentation of all development activity, training non-technical personnel, and assisting with tracking performance metrics. The role acts as a key contributor in a complex environment and may lead teams or projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience coding in Golang, Rust, Node.js, Python or Scala.
  • 2+ years of experience with microservices, Kubernetes, or EKS (AWS or OCI).
  • 2+ years of experience with enterprise cloud services (e.g., S3, OCI Object Storage, EMR, Glue, EC2, ECS, OCI Compute, IAM, Lambda, CodeBuild, Athena, OCI Dataflow, Redis, ElasticSearch, RDS, Aurora, and Airflow).
  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Terraform, or similar automation tools.
  • Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience using data platforms such as Aerospike, Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Presto, and EMR.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Experience in the advertising industry, particularly in audience targeting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discovery and solution design by partnering with Product Management, Engineering leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Apply deep, hands-on expertise in one or more major cloud platforms (AWS, OCI, Azure, or GCP).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in multiple languages and platforms (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, Go).
  • Assume ownership for delivering end-to-end solutions which address business problems.
  • Serve as a technical thought leader in 'buy vs. build vs. broker' evaluations.
  • Champion the design and development of robust, scalable, and highly available software systems.
  • Establish and enforce test automation standards.
  • Drive adherence to and evolution of Freewheel's engineering best practices.
  • Act as a mentor to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Bring working knowledge or expertise in technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Aerospike.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance, including nights and weekends as necessary.
