About The Position

The Engineered Polymers business at Lubrizol is a leading global supplier and innovator of thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) which are used in a wide range of medical, consumer, electronics, and other industrial applications. Its Medical business is a full-service provider for medical device design and development, for manufacturing of medical components and for manufacturing finished medical devices based on a wide range of material portfolio to treat numerous critical health conditions, from minimal invasive to long term implants applications. As a Senior Global Technical Director, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving the global technology organization supporting the Engineered Polymers business. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life. The role is accountable for driving innovation, speed to commercialization, manage technology budget, stage gate processes, IP, achieving of innovation project portfolio targets. The role requires alignment of technical projects with the business strategy, and to ensure business needs are prioritized and global platforms are executed effectively.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and/or Engineering related discipline.
  • 10+ years of prior experience in leading specialty chemicals technology teams.
  • 3+ years of leading a global technology team.
  • Experience working in a complex organization and matrixed structure.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovations in partnership with the business.
  • Experience in building and growing a high-performance technical team.

  • Strong engineered materials background preferred.
  • Experience in training and mentoring to develop top talents.

Responsibilities

  • Foster good communication, teamwork, and strategic alignment.
  • Keep up to date on key market and macro trends and leverage emerging technologies.
  • Identify technical needs and solutions through customer and technical professional interfaces.
  • Ensure alignment with key business stakeholders on all technical initiatives.
  • Develop strong succession pipelines for key leadership roles.
  • Set and deliver productivity improvement goals and assess non-value adding activities.
  • Drive operational excellence and a customer-driven mindset.
  • Ensure laboratories are safe and compliant with regulatory agencies.
