What you’ll be responsible for: This role supports the organization’s planned giving program, including gift planning and the administration of estate and legacy gifts. In this role, you will work with donors, advisors, legal counsel, and internal teams to ensure gifts are handled accurately and on time. It offers a mix of donor interaction and behind‑the‑scenes coordination. What you’ll be doing:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and either an advanced degree or 2-4 years of work experience is required.
  • Expertise/experience in one or more of the following areas (in order of preference): fundraising, legal, financial planning, community relations, and foundations.
  • Ability to become a subject matter expert in various planned giving and estate planning techniques.
  • Strong administrative background sufficient to be able to administer estates, trusts, and when appropriate, to handle general management assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with people individually and in groups.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite of Products. and the ability to learn new software systems, including Salesforce, and keep up with any new technology.
  • Must exhibit abilities to exercise outstanding judgment, maintain confidentiality, and operate with discretion.
  • Knowledge of Jewish community, culture, heritage, and traditions.

Responsibilities

  • Gift Planning Draft and prepare proposals and other written materials to explain the establishment of endowment funds and gift planning vehicles.
  • Support legal counsel in preparing documents for gift planning, when appropriate and under supervision.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive gift planning program, including administration for charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, and life insurance.
  • Assist in developing programs that promote testamentary gifts, including the Declaration of Intent program and general communications on endowment funds.
  • Gift Administration Coordinate with legal counsel and other team members when assigned to ensure timely and accurate receipt of funds.
  • Ensure appropriate communications with families, executors, trustees, and legal counsel regarding estate gifts.
  • Ensure that estate assets are properly recorded and transferred to the Accounting Department.
  • Work with team members to ensure that all matters concerning bequests are properly accounted for.
  • On an individual basis and under the supervision of the Associate Vice President, Legacies & Endowments, meet with donors to explore the financial and estate planning opportunities of planned giving.
  • Donor/Advisor/Committee Work Assist in staffing the Legacies & Endowments Committee and the Professional Advisory Committee.
  • Meet with and assist lay leadership and staff in educating local and estate planning professionals about the important role that charitable giving could have in their clients’ planning.
  • Work as a Donor Officer.
  • Requires discretion and independent judgement in performing all aspects of the position.
