Senior Gift Planning Advisor The Senior Gift Planning Advisor is a champion of planned giving and is responsible for managing an assigned portfolio of GCF constituents who have committed a “future fund gift” to GCF, or who are prospects for making such a gift. This includes stewarding existing planned giving donors and cultivating current and prospective donors for legacy gifts, multi-generational charitable funds, and planning for complex charitable gifts, while maintaining strong relationships with professional advisors. This position involves all aspects of the gift planning process for GCF, including implementing the strategy for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for GCF prospects and donors, including engagement with the estate planning and tax advising community. This position also provides educational opportunities to GCF staff and external constituents regarding deferred gifts and changes in tax laws and delivers high-quality services to assigned donors to achieve high donor satisfaction. Foundation Society & Donor Stewardship: Serves as GCF's principal liaison with current and prospective legacy donors Manages a portfolio of donors with planned gifts naming GCF and prospective Future Fund donors, developing and executing engagement strategies to bring them closer to the Foundation’s mission with the goal of stewarding donors and creating legacy commitments. Oversees the design and development of a planned giving stewardship program for people who have named GCF in their estate plans Develops relationships with assigned donors and prospects through cultivation calls, virtual meetings, and correspondence, with an emphasis on successful face-to-face meetings. Professional Advisor Relations: Works with professional advisors to obtain planned gifts from GCF’s current and prospective donors. Implements an annual plan for the cultivation and education of estate planning professionals, which includes representing GCF at advisor and prospect events, conducting individual and group meetings, offering educational presentations, and publishing digital and print-based marketing materials to develop referrals in collaboration with the Director of Professional Advisor Relations. Team Collaboration & Development: Coordinates and provides assistance in the design of strategies for cultivating and soliciting donors in coordination with senior staff, leadership and volunteers. Meets regularly with internal team members to review activities with donors, prospects and professional advisors in their portfolio to determine strategies for engaging them in conversations related to estate planning, long-term charitable tax planning, and multi-generational charitable planning. Mentors colleagues in planned giving conversations with donors in their portfolio. Champions family engagement initiatives and collaborates across philanthropy team to facilitate meaningful engagement experiences. Essential Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities): Delivers educational presentations and engages in 1:1 conversation to promote charitable giving and the benefits of the Foundation to staff, the Board, Foundation Society members, current and prospective donors, and professional advisors. Works creatively with current and prospective donors and their advisors to create charitable gifts that meet each donor's financial, estate planning and charitable goals. Provides oversight to the planned giving process, in concert with the Director of Professional Advisor Relations, which includes reviewing all planned giving policies, practices and procedures to ensure legal compliance and internal efficiencies, securing fund documentation and/or written gift confirmations from new, current and planned gift donors, broadly providing guidance for the estate administration of deferred gifts as they mature, and from time to time reviewing new gift agreements before they are signed to ensure legal compliance and GCF’s ability to fulfill donor intentions. Utilizes GCF’s CRM, Community Suite, to track planned giving opportunities and provide data on the expectancy pipeline to the leadership team as requested. Prepares and submits statistics, reports and budget information to the Vice President of Philanthropic Strategies as requested, including oversight of the planned giving pipeline. Works with the executive leadership members as part of a team of fundraisers for GCF, including joint strategy and the broader philanthropic partnerships team in sessions and other matters important for an effective development effort. Work collaboratively with Philanthropic Partnerships colleagues on projects such as supporting philanthropic advisors in gift solicitations, donor recognition, donor stewardship, legacy gift marketing and special events. Works with Finance to properly accept and administer complex gifts, including but not limited to life insurance policies, real estate, privately held securities and other assets. Trains the GCF team on planned giving strategies and procedures. Participates in continuing education to maintain current knowledge on changes in tax laws and other emerging issues in the planned giving field. Analyzes key trends in the legacy and gift planning industry to implement a comprehensive planned giving program. General Responsibilities: Enters notes into GCF’s database in a timely fashion after substantive contact with donors, prospects and professional advisors. Participates in estate planning councils and other advisor organizations to cultivate relationships with professional advisors and increase estate planning knowledge. Remains abreast of the most current trends by attending educational events, seeking networking opportunities with peers and adopting best practices as they are identified. Promotes GCF through attendance at community events. Participates in assigned meetings, events and trainings as required. Other Duties: Assists in the creation of annual goals and objectives for the Philanthropic Strategies department, which includes carrying out development activities as identified in the team’s annual goals. Provides staff, Board members and donors with planned giving consultation as it relates to Foundation activity. Performs other duties (or functions) as assigned.
