Position Overview The Senior Geotechnical Engineer (Part-Time) provides expert technical oversight and guidance on complex geotechnical aspects of construction projects, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with engineering standards. This role supports the evaluation, analysis, and monitoring of subsurface and groundwater conditions, excavation stability, cutoff wall construction, and embankment operations throughout project execution.

Requirements

Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Florida
Previous experience working on a minimum of two embankment dam construction projects within the last 10 years.
Demonstrated experience with projects of similar scope, scale, and complexity.
Ability to travel for weekly site visits (must have reliable transportation).
Strong technical writing and reporting skills.
Availability to meet with the Resident Engineer and attend required project meetings.
Valid Florida Driver's License with acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)
Ability to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients.
Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports.
Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Conducting geotechnical site investigations of excavations, cutoff wall construction, embankment operations, and groundwater conditions throughout construction.
Evaluating and analyzing geological and geotechnical conditions to assess risks and opportunities for construction projects.
Managing geotechnical aspects of projects, such as project execution, timelines, and milestones including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Performing pre-construction and weekly site visits throughout construction to assess site conditions.
Recommend updates to the excavation, work platform, cutoff wall, and embankment operation plans as construction progress to reflect changing conditions.
Conducting feasibility studies, risk assessments and implement quality assurance processes to identify potential challenges, develop mitigation strategies and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations.
Responsible for signing and sealing all related submittals as well as being available to meet with the Resident Engineer.
Preparing technical reports and documentation detailing analysis, findings, and recommendations.
Fostering positive relationships with clients and stakeholders to enhance satisfaction and promote future collaborations.
On a monthly basis write and submit reports informing the Resident Engineer of the status of the plan and accounting contractors adherence to the plan addressing any present or potential problems.
Staying updated on industry trends, technologies, and innovations to enhance project delivery and efficiency.
Preparing cost estimates, proposals, and invoices.
Performing any other duties as assigned.
