About The Position

Position Summary: As an ENGEO Senior Geologist your work is crucial in keeping communities safe! Working alongside talented peers and technical leaders, you will perform detailed technical analysis of earth material and assess geological hazards on a wide variety of challenging and world-renowned projects. In addition, you will mentor staff, foster client relationships, and represent ENGEO as a technical leader on site and in meetings. Requirements

Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience
Technical knowledge of the San Diego/Southern California region
Bachelor’s in Geology (minimum requirement)
Licensed in California as a Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG; preferred) or Professional Geologist (PG). If licensed in another state, must be able to become licensed in California within 6 months.
Experienced in application of technical guidance documents such as SP-117A, CGS Note 48 and the Alquist-Priolo Act
Experience mentoring staff
Must be able to legally work within the United States and have a clean driving record.
Must own/have access to a vehicle that can drive onto job sites.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a wide variety of challenging projects.
Characterize and evaluate soil, rock, groundwater and other natural conditions prior to major construction projects.
Identify and develop mitigation measures for potential geological hazards affecting life, land, and property.
Consult geological maps and historic stereoscopic aerial photographs for site characterization and detailed geologic mapping.
Monitor development areas and characterize and evaluate geological conditions to ensure that existing and proposed structures are stable in the short and long term.
Perform geologic observations, approvals, and detailed geologic mapping during mass grading.
Plan and conduct detailed field explorations involving field mapping, drilling, test pits, trenches and collection and characterization of soil and bedrock samples.
Design corrective grading plans for geological and geotechnical hazard mitigation.
Communicate and collaborate with clients, and subcontractors.
Supervise field investigations and visit new and existing project sites.
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary staff, including other engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, consultants and field representatives.
Train and mentor new staff on geologic mapping, field investigation, characterization and analytical techniques.
Perform well-defined field, analytical, and project administrative responsibilities as required.
Build geologic models, interpret subsurface stratigraphy, and draw cross sections to analyze slope stability.
Write technical documents summarizing field work, findings, and recommendations to mitigate the geological and geotechnical hazards identified in the field.
