About The Position

Patreon is a media and community platform where over 300,000 creators give their biggest fans access to exclusive work and experiences We offer creators a variety of ways to engage with their fans and build a lasting business including: paid memberships, free memberships, community chats, live video, and selling to fans directly with one-time purchases Ultimately our goal is simple: fund the creative class And we're leaders in that space, with: $10 billion+ generated by creators since Patreon's inception 100 million+ free memberships for fans who may not be ready to pay just yet, and 25 million+ paid memberships on Patreon today We're continuing to invest heavily in building the best creator platform with the best team in the creator economy and are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to support our mission This role is based in New York or San Francisco and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model The Community team at Patreon is building the core spaces where creators and fans interact in real time We own Patreon Live, Chats, Comments, Reactions, Drops, and emerging collaboration features, the social layer that makes Patreon a place fans want to return to every day Our mission is to help fans feel connected, seen, and part of something, and to help creators lead vibrant communities that reflect their identity and values We operate across iOS, Android, Web, and Backend, partnering closely with Product, Design, Data, and Trust & Safety to build experiences that are engaging, safe, and deeply meaningful within niche fandoms This is a fit-finding space, we ship fast, learn quickly, and shape direction through real usage and feedback

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software development
  • Experience with React, nextjs, Typescript or Javascript
  • Experience with Python or a similar language
  • Experience with SQL
  • Solid communication skills with cross-functional team members
  • Eager to take on new challenges and expand skill set
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver well-scoped full stack product feature milestones that help creators create content on Patreon
  • Drive technical design of components that are scalable, well tested and are easy to maintain
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, designers, and other engineers to deliver high quality features
  • Champion innovative solutions that enhance the usability and engagement with discovery features
  • Build a strong product-minded engineering culture by mentoring and guiding engineers
