About The Position

Peraton is hiring for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (Angular, .NET Core, PostgreSQL, AI-Enabled Development) Location: This role may have the ability to work in a hybrid capacity but primarily on-site in Santa Clara, CA or Reston, VA. The Mission Join Peraton’s innovative team and lead the modernization of the Theater Mission Planning Center (TMPC) while ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of today’s operational system. TMPC is the mission planning and execution component of the Tomahawk Weapon System (TWS). As a senior engineer, you will architect, design, and guide the transformation of a mission-critical system into a next-generation, microservices-based capability. You will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development and secure DevSecOps pipelines. What You’ll Do As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer , you will serve as a technical leader responsible for full lifecycle system development, modernization strategy, and architectural decision-making. In this role, you will: Modernization Leadership: Architect and lead the evolution of the legacy system into a scalable microservices-based architecture, defining design patterns, service boundaries, and integration strategies. Full-Stack Architecture & Development: Design and implement complex, high-performance user interfaces using Angular and architect secure, scalable back-end services using .NET Core, C#, and PostgreSQL. AI-Enabled Development & Automation: Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., intelligent code generation, automated test creation, static analysis, and secure code review tools) to increase development efficiency and code quality. Integrate AI/ML-driven capabilities where applicable (e.g., data analysis, predictive insights, decision support enhancements) within mission planning systems. Guide responsible AI usage, ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity and data governance standards. System Architecture & Technical Governance: Define technical standards, conduct design reviews, and ensure alignment with Navy and DoD cybersecurity requirements. Lead architectural trade studies and technology evaluations. DevSecOps & Infrastructure Leadership: Architect and maintain CI/CD pipelines. Lead automation efforts using Ansible and infrastructure-as-code principles. Ensure secure containerization and orchestration strategies (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman). Performance, Scalability & Security Engineering: Drive system hardening, performance optimization, database tuning, and secure coding practices in compliance with DoD STIGs and RMF requirements. Agile Technical Leadership: Operate within a SAFe Agile environment, serving as a technical lead across teams, mentoring junior engineers, and coordinating with system engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and government stakeholders. System Sustainment & Reliability: Oversee troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and complex issue resolution. Ensure system availability, mission readiness, and long-term maintainability.

Requirements

  • 12 years with BS/BA; 10 years with MS or 7 years with a PhD, 14 years with AS, 16 years of applicable experience in lieu of a degree
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Advanced Programming Expertise: Extensive experience with object-oriented programming (C#, .NET Core preferred) and modern front-end frameworks (Angular preferred).
  • Full Lifecycle Development: Proven experience designing, developing, deploying, and sustaining enterprise-level applications in secure environments.
  • Microservices & API Design: Deep understanding of distributed systems, RESTful API design, service orchestration, and containerized environments.
  • Database Engineering: Strong experience with PostgreSQL (or similar RDBMS), including schema design, performance optimization, and query tuning.
  • DevSecOps & Automation: Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, applying infrastructure-as-code practices, and implementing secure deployment strategies.
  • AI Development Tools & Practices: Demonstrated experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools, automated testing frameworks, and intelligent code analysis platforms to enhance productivity and software quality.
  • Operating Systems: Strong proficiency in both Windows and Linux development environments.
  • Leadership & Communication: Experience mentoring junior engineers, leading design discussions, and interfacing with government stakeholders.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing AI/ML components in production systems.
  • Familiarity with RMF, STIG compliance, and secure system accreditation processes.
  • Experience with Kubernetes orchestration in secure environments.
  • Experience with Selenium or other automated testing frameworks.
  • SAFe Agile certification or experience serving as a Technical Lead within SAFe.
