About The Position

The Formula/Human Milk Tech Senior at Children's Hospital Colorado plays a crucial role in providing optimal nutritional care to hospitalized pediatric patients. This position involves the accurate handling, storage, preparation, and distribution of formulas and human milk, ensuring that patients receive timely and safe nutritional support. The role also includes educating and guiding families, both inpatient and outpatient, about nutritional care.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a related field is required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of healthcare-related experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Minimum of two years of college credit in a healthcare-related field, such as Medical Nutrition, Anatomy and/or Physiology, or certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Lactation Counselor (CLC), or Advanced Lactation Consultant (ALC) may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, review, and verify patient human milk and/or formula orders via EMR.
• Prepare human milk and/or formula according to provider orders using aseptic technique.
• Deliver prepared human milk and/or formula to designated locations in an accurate and timely manner.
• Utilize critical thinking, communication, customer service, and emotional intelligence to effectively triage formula and human milk lab calls and in-person interactions.
