About The Position

A leader in food manufacturing known for its premium baking and grain-based products, is seeking a Senior Food Technologist to join its R&D and Product Innovation team in Elk Grove, California. This position plays a key role in developing, optimizing, and commercializing products within the tortilla and baked-goods categories, helping drive innovation and process excellence across multiple production lines.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in baked goods, tortillas, or similar grain-based product development.
Strong understanding of food manufacturing processes and plant operations.
Proven experience managing multiple development projects and collaborating cross-functionally.
Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, GMP, and regulatory compliance practices.
Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, formulation systems, and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

Lead new product development and line extension projects from concept through commercialization.
Conduct formulation trials, bench testing, and scale-up from pilot to full production.
Collaborate closely with Operations, QA, and Marketing to translate customer and marketing concepts into viable products.
Perform shelf-life testing, sensory evaluations, and ingredient functionality studies.
Ensure compliance with FDA labeling, nutritional, and regulatory requirements.
Document and analyze production data to drive process improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
Validate manufacturing processes during plant trials and implement best practices for consistency and quality.
Mentor junior technologists and provide technical oversight during R&D activities.
Support sustainability, continuous improvement, and innovation goals throughout the organization.
