About The Position

Parabit Systems, a well-established and rapidly expanding company in the security and self-service equipment industries, is currently seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer. The role requires the successful candidate to work onsite at Parabit's facility for the first sixty (60) days. Following this initial onsite period, the position may transition to a remote role, subject to performance and business needs. Candidates may reside outside the NYC area; however, any lodging or travel expenses associated with the initial onsite period shall be the responsibility of the candidate. Parabit Systems, a well-established and rapidly expanding company in the security and self-service equipment industries, is currently seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to participate in all aspects of the design and maintenance of hardware and firmware for its products. Candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to use appropriate development tools, compilers, and simulation. Must be capable of working within a team environment to plan, organize, execute and thoroughly document complex system designs. Test and debug skills are necessary; must understand interoperability of hardware and software. Must be able to manage and support multiple tasks on a consistent basis, while providing the highest level of service. Good verbal and writing skills are necessary. Full life-cycle software development; programming to include conceptual design, general coding, release to manufacturing testing, and quality assurance. Candidate needs to be able to produce final release software for manufacturing including associated documentation.

Requirements

  • A qualified candidate must have a BS or higher with 10+ years of relevant applied experience in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of and hands-on experience with microprocessor firmware development.
  • Experience with Microcontroller competencies: Microchip, Nordic ARM cortex.
  • Experience with writing bootloaders for microprocessors on new and existing PCBAs.
  • Experience with writing embedded firmware in C for a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS).
  • Experience with Bluetooth/NFC implementation.
  • Experience with network communication protocols (TCP/IP, UDP)
  • Experience with common communication protocols (I2C, SPI, RS485/RS232 and USB)
  • Experience with Microchip's Tools - MPLAB / MPLAB X / Harmony
  • Experience developing embedded / IoT device software / firmware.
  • Knowledge and experience with analog, digital and embedded systems design, development, test engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Ability to read hardware block diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Must be capable of thoroughly documenting complex system designs.
