We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Firmware Design Engineer who is responsible for requirements analysis and decomposition, sub-system design, modeling, simulation, and design verification test. The Senior Firmware Design Engineer will work with other experienced engineers, will have strong written and verbal communication skills, and will have the ability to work independently yet collaboratively in a team environment. This position is for an electrical engineer to work in the ROIC and Digital Products Department at the Electronic Warfare Systems of Raytheon. The person hired for this position will work on new product development based on descriptions and specifications provided by our customers. This entails working in integrated product teams to design, develop, and manufacture complex state-of-the-art systems for airborne, naval, and land-based military applications. Activities include VHDL/Verilog coding, detailed digital design, embedded systems, and FPGA development. Specific tasks include circuit analysis, circuit simulation, FPGA programming, design documentation, design verification and testing, and integration of hardware and software at the level of electronic components and circuit boards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct requirements analysis and decomposition for firmware design.
  • Engage in sub-system design, modeling, simulation, and design verification testing.
  • Collaborate with integrated product teams to design and develop complex systems for military applications.
  • Perform VHDL/Verilog coding and detailed digital design.
  • Develop embedded systems and FPGA programming.
  • Conduct circuit analysis and simulation.
  • Document design processes and verification results.
  • Integrate hardware and software at the electronic component and circuit board level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Digital Signal Processing, Intel/Altera and/or AMD/Xilinx FPGAs, and digital hardware design.
  • Experience designing in Matlab/Simulink with DSP Builder and HDL Coder blocksets.
  • Proven ability in firmware integration and digital hardware design.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance within one year of start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, or Microsemi FPGAs.
  • Familiarity with High Level Modeling tools and languages such as SystemVerilog or HDL Coder.
  • Experience in embedded electronics, VHDL, Verilog, System Verilog, Schematic capture, signal processing, RF, FPGA.
