About The Position

Merrick is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer with at least twelve (12) years of experience in providing fire protection system design services for DOD Government and Commercial Aerospace Facilities for our office in Atlanta, GA. Typical salary range for this position is $132,800.00 - $164,300.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Requirements

Minimum twelve (12) years of experience in fire protection design.
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science from an ABET Accredited Program in Fire Protection Engineering OR Mechanical / Electrical degree with experience in fire protection.
Registered Fire Protection PE is required (Florida preferred)
Uses advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments.
Position requires the ability to manage other engineers and designers.
Strong experience interfacing with client contacts.
Ability to travel 25%
Client projects for this position require US Citizenship

Nice To Haves

Specific experience in designing fire protection systems for DOD, Commercial Aerospace projects.
Experience with Building and Life Safety Code analysis.
Experience with computer-based fire dynamic and evacuation simulation modeling.
Design/Build experience.
Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation and/or Bentley BIM.
Local candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide fire protection design for DOD Government Facilities, and Commercial Aerospace Facilities; serve as DOR on fire protection designs.
Apply extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and relates fields.
Work on multiple projects of major-to-moderate scope with complex features.
Receives minimal supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
Manage all levels of engineers and designers.
Design Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, Equipment selection and layout, and System selection and layout.
Ensure internal communication and coordination of design efforts occurs.
Coordinate all support activities required to complete all design efforts and quality assurance processes.
Work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments.
Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.
