About The Position

The Senior Financial Services Accountant at the Florida Department of Transportation is responsible for coordinating all Contract Funds Management activities, ensuring compliance with financial procedures, and providing support to project managers regarding invoicing and contract issues. This role involves auditing transactions, processing payroll adjustments, and maintaining accurate financial records, contributing to the overall efficiency and integrity of the department's financial operations.

Requirements

  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university plus one year of professional business work experience, or equivalent experience substituting for education.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in auditing and knowledge of contract terminology and statutory regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) system.
  • Familiarity with the Consultant Invoice Transmittal System (CITS).
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all Contract Funds Management activities by updating contract statuses and verifying funds encumbrance before contract execution.
  • Resolve contract/invoice issues with project managers and provide assistance/training on invoicing procedures.
  • Audit and process purchasing card charges daily, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
  • Assist with payroll transactions, including terminations and leave adjustments, and process corrections as needed.
  • Audit electronic contract invoices for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain a database of cellular phones and ensure compliance with acquisition procedures.
  • Reconcile contracts for close-out and provide detailed reports on discrepancies to the Contract Office.
  • Research and resolve payment inquiries from vendors and employees, communicating results effectively.
  • Assist the Financial Services Manager with administrative tasks related to recruitment and personnel functions.
  • Secure, transmit, and deposit receipts according to departmental guidelines.
