JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant is an integral part of the financial reporting team, with primary responsibility for preparing accounting workbooks supporting internal and external financial reporting, including SEC filings, and contributing to the monthly close process across key areas such as general & administrative accruals, investments, equity-based transactions, and stock-based compensation. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining state registrations in multiple states and supporting other key areas within the department such as payroll and expense reporting. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an organized, detail-attentive accounting professional to develop within a collaborative, public-company reporting environment subject to US GAAP and SOX requirements. This position will report to the Senior Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting. ARS Pharmaceuticals, Inc., operates in a hybrid work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting/Finance, or equivalent experience, will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ in-house accounting experience at a public company and/or public accounting experience is required (Big 4 experience is strongly preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with a sense of urgency and shift with changing priorities.
  • Highly organized and accountable for meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Self-motivated and capable of learning complex tasks quickly.
  • Able to work effectively onsite in San Diego three days per week (hybrid)

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
  • Biotech/pharma or high-tech industry experience is preferred.
  • NetSuite and Active Disclosure experience is preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale enterprise software systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accounting workbooks used for internal and external financial reporting and related SEC filings.
  • Participate in the monthly financial close process ensuring accounts assigned are properly recorded, prepare account reconciliations, journal entries, and report preparation. Key areas include general & administrative accruals, investments, equity-based transactions and stock compensation, and employee expense reconciliations.
  • Support quarterly reviews and annual audits including providing supporting documentation and responding to questions as needed.
  • Assist with the monthly management budget-vs-actual reporting package.
  • Maintain state tax registrations and related administration.
  • Maintain compliance with US GAAP and SOX internal control requirements.
  • Participate in various finance and accounting projects and perform other duties as assigned.
