About The Position

St. Michael's is seeking a Senior Financial Manager candidate for an anticipated federal program. In this role, you will provide financial management leadership and expertise to support program resources across the full lifecycle of planning, budgeting, execution, and audit sustainment. This position requires strong collaboration with senior government stakeholders to ensure compliance with DoD financial regulations and support the accurate distribution, reconciliation, and reporting of resources. Requirements

  • Previous experience directly supporting Defense Treat Reduction Agency (DTRA) highly preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree required (Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field).
  • Minimum of 8+ years in federal financial management, with demonstrated experience in DoD PPBE processes, budget execution, and accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of federal accounting standards, DoD financial systems, audit response, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance (TS/SCI preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications: Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), DoD FM Certification, or CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level financial management expertise across planning, programming, budgeting, and execution functions.
  • Lead financial operations including resource allocation, budget execution, and spend plan management.
  • Prepare execution reports, budget submissions, and senior-level financial briefings for leadership.
  • Support audit readiness, corrective action planning, and sustainment of internal controls and compliance measures.
  • Conduct financial reconciliations, analyses, and journal entry reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Provide oversight of financial systems and tools, ensuring accurate data capture, reporting, and process improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and auditors to sustain compliance with DoD and federal financial management regulations.
  • Mentor and support junior analysts and financial managers in execution and audit practices.
