About The Position

BDO is seeking a senior manager level professional to support project delivery activities for US Defense agencies. The individual in this position will provide financial improvement, transformation, and audit support services to improve the completeness, accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of a federal agency’s financial data in support of the overall objective to obtain an unmodified audit opinion. The role will be responsible for partnering with senior leaders within the Practice to lead or manage business development, practice development, and project delivery activities, along with day-to-day client delivery and relationships with clients on Public Sector engagements. This role may also be involved in direct supervision of staff and performance management.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Management/Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience with Federal financial management.
  • Four (4) or more years of experience with Federal accounting.
  • Minimum active Secret level security clearance.
  • One of the following active certifications: CPA, CISA, CGFM, CDFM.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Operating Materials & Supplies (OM&S), Inventory & Related Property, or Environmental & Disposal Liabilities (E&DL).
  • Experience with financial statement audits or audit readiness support.
  • Experience with DoD financial management policies and procedures.
  • Experience supporting Public Sector practice, solution, and/or business development initiatives.
  • Experience managing or leading teams, firm initiatives, and/or federal client project activities.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suites (especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Experience with SAP based platforms.
  • SharePoint or audit response tool experience.

Responsibilities

  • Executes day-to-day duties for the client, including leading and/or providing subject matter expertise and technical acumen to support the client in achieving audit response and remediation objectives.
  • Provides guidance in management of team operations in compliance with client project requirements.
  • Owns or provides guidance in task areas while coordinating closely with engagement team management and client leadership.
  • Provides the client with professional Federal accounting and auditing solutions and change management support.
  • Supports audit response and liaison efforts to assist the client in responding to audit requests.
  • Leads or supports audit walkthroughs on assigned system or business process scope.
  • Provides financial audit program strategy, integration, and reporting support.
  • Leads or supports the development and/or implementation of corrective actions and best practices.
  • Works with various client stakeholder communities to understand system, process, control, and/or data needs.
  • Provides training, change management, and communication support.
  • Leads or supports the documentation, design, and/or implementation of risk assessments, processes, and controls.
  • Assists with accounting and/or financial reporting operations.
  • Conducts accounting standard research and advises on posting logic for various transactional events.
  • Assesses system compliance with FFMIA and system control frameworks.
  • Supports test of design or operating effectiveness reviews for identified system or business process controls.
  • Conducts reviews of assets, key supporting documentation, and/or system records.
  • Leads or assists transformation efforts from legacy processes to fully integrated and modernized system or process solutions.
  • Supports the development of written reports, in-progress reviews, metrics, dashboards, and/or status reporting.
  • Prepares presentations, briefings, and actively participates in and/or leads client meetings.
  • Contributes to the development of deliverables, reporting metrics, and trainings.
  • Evaluates work products for technical accuracy, deliverable quality, and overall value to the client.
  • Manages priorities and work effectively to initiate correspondence and task completion.
  • Communicates and maintains relationships with key client personnel.
  • Establishes professional rapport with clients and other organizations.
  • Leads or supports firm practice and solution initiatives.
  • Leads or supports business development to cultivate the growth of existing and new business.
  • Supports opportunity capture and leads proposal or other opportunity requests for information responses.
  • Attends relevant training, seminars, and/or conferences.
  • Builds a market presence to develop a network of key financial decision makers.
  • Identifies current market trends and supports business development activities.
  • Supports recruiting efforts by identifying and referring potential candidates.

  • Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
  • Maryland Range: $125,000 - $160,000.
  • Washington DC Range: $125,000 - $160,000.
