About The Position

Acting as a member of a multidisciplinary team with primary responsibility for coordinating the financial aspects of the department, including functioning as a financial counselor for patients, acting as a department resource and liaising with various third party entities. Provides support and guidance to junior staff.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Finance required or Associate's Degree Accounting required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study preferred
  • Experience in financial management, budgeting, or a related role within the healthcare sector 2-3 years required
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Familiarity with healthcare finance regulations and reimbursement models.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and mentorship skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains detailed patient insurance benefit information, assists with verification of coverage, determines benefit coverage and explains it to patient and their families.
  • Serves as a resource for patients and family members on financial matters, such as insurance authorization, billing, financial planning, and providing guidance to alternative healthcare insurance coverage choices.
  • Obtains prior authorizations and follows-up with patients regarding financial process as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with department heads, administrators, and finance teams to gather relevant financial information and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial policies.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to junior staff and leads onboarding, while also running huddles and managing the work queues.
