About The Position

Guardian Rail, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, is proud to operate one of the country’s leading freight rail services and transportation companies with a large network of freight and tank car repair facilities, a nationwide network of running repair agents, and a rail services division that operates short line railroads and contract switching and transloading sites. We currently have an opportunity for a Financial Analyst or Senior Financial Analyst on our corporate FP&A team who will report to the Manager of FP&A and partner with the Company’s division leadership to support financial and operational matters including accounting, analysis, recommendations, planning, and ensuring the integrity of internal controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
  • 3-5 years experience in an accounting, financial analysis and/or financial planning role preferably in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of accounting processes
  • Experience with financial analysis and accounting analysis
  • Understand P&L and balance sheet dynamics
  • Demonstrated experience with accounting & financial processes
  • Ability to think both analytically and creatively with diligence
  • Ability to prioritize and execute on multiple actions timely and effectively
  • Strong written and verbal/interpersonal communication skills
  • Collaborator able to work well in a group, take direction, as well as an individual contributor able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluent with MS Office including Excel skills
  • Experience in accounting software; NetSuite experience a plus
  • Minimal travel required

Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely and accurate division financials support
  • Ensure, review, and analyze facility financial performance and coordinate with the operations team to enact appropriate actions
  • Support financial process improvements: utilize tools, systems, and reports to provide critical financial and operational information to the division leads and financial leadership
  • Calculation, reporting and analysis of various division financial metrics and operational KPIs, and published monthly
  • Support the annual monthly close, audit and accounting reconciliation processes
  • Monthly income statement & balance sheet review, variance analysis, and reconciliation
  • Collaborate with division finance, operational leadership, and organizational personnel
  • Capital expenditure, inventory, expense management and other financial process support
  • Create presentations, and ad-hoc analysis for division leads and Finance management
  • Support and educate non-finance operational team and departmental teams on key financial processes and corporate requirements
  • Special projects to improve efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy of financial reporting and related controls; serve on teams as assigned
  • Enterprise consolidated financial reporting and analysis
