About The Position

Flywheel Energy is a private exploration and production company focused on acquiring and maximizing the value of large, producing onshore US oil and gas assets. We are a fast paced, innovative, and collaborative company looking for a highly analytical and execution oriented Senior Finance Analyst to join our Midcon FP&A team. This role is responsible for managing the corporate model, monthly financial reporting, and multi-year planning cycles to deliver accurate reporting, forecasting and comprehensive cash flow analysis. The ideal candidate is adaptable, curious, thrives in a dynamic environment, and is adept at translating complex financial models and data sets into clear and concise narratives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience FP&A, ideally within the Oil & Gas Exploration and Production (E&P) sector
  • Advanced problem-solving and interpersonal skills; adept at building and maintaining strong working relationships
  • Ability to set clear objectives and work autonomously, while consistently delivering high quality results under tight deadlines
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with ability to synthesize large data sets and create meaningful insights

Responsibilities

  • Corporate Financial Model Own Model Input Execution: Execute and ensure the timely and accurate input of all key operational drivers (production, costs, capital, pricing, hedges) into the corporate financial model for all planning cycles. Understand the impact on cash flow. Ensure Data Integrity: Verify and track all model inputs back to their original source to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Align Key Assumptions: Serve as the primary liaison between business owners and FP&A to ensure full business alignment on all inputs.
  • Performance Management & Monthly Financial Reporting Drive Monthly Analysis: Analyze and review Monthly Financial Reports to ensure data integrity. Collaborate with Accounting to resolve discrepancies and implement solutions. Execute Variance Analysis: Lead the monthly variance analysis process against all relevant baselines. Provide concise, root-cause explanations of variance drivers. Validate Forecasts: Collaborate with stakeholders to validate assumptions and resolve discrepancies, ensuring high accuracy in forecasting and reporting. Drive Business Insights: Identify and analyze key trends, cost outliers, and revenue opportunities to drive actionable, data-driven recommendations.
  • Adaptability & Agility Proactive Problem Solving: Proactively seek solutions and anticipate needs when new data or reporting challenges arise from company growth. Own Unstructured Requests: Take ownership of new, unstructured analysis requests, leveraging curiosity to quickly define and execute the objective. Support High-Priority Projects: Demonstrate willingness to redirect effort and support high-priority, ad-hoc projects when required by business demands.
