About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the execution of highly complex financial analysis and business improvement across all key areas within Fifth Third Bancorp. This role serves as a financial leader to all lines of business and affiliates, focusing on providing value-added analysis and recommendations to support business growth. The analyst will lead the education and development of less experienced staff and is accountable for risk management by following policies and procedures. The position emphasizes the importance of doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, ensuring a positive customer experience while managing various types of risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP strongly desired.
  • Minimum of seven years of accounting or finance-related experience.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in all lines of business within Bancorp.
  • Proficient with MS-Windows and related PC applications.
  • Desire and ability to learn mainframe applications and automated data analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in performance measurement tools and technology.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure in a dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and logical/critical thought processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead peers in identifying key business factors impacting all lines of business.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base on existing and emerging issues.
  • Develop recommendations and action plans to support growth and mitigate risks.
  • Execute financial analysis and drive business results.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly reports for all lines of business and affiliates.
  • Investigate and document unusual items.
  • Maintain existing schedules and reports for changes to information.
  • Document, evaluate, and improve report designs and processes.
  • Develop trend analyses and quantitative reports to determine business trends.
  • Manage documentation of financial plans and analysis for senior management meetings.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with peers and management.
  • Attend meetings to stay informed on current and emerging issues.
  • Participate in process improvement and problem resolution.
  • Prepare and analyze annual profit plans and rolling forecasts.
  • Analyze business performance and recommend improvements.
  • Work closely with CFOs to develop metrics and variance analysis.
  • Assist in developing presentations and discussion documents.
  • Create and publish graphic metrics to communicate business results.
  • Assist CFOs with automating data collection and analysis.
  • Provide training and guidance to less experienced analysts.
  • Allocate work and review work of less experienced staff.
  • Set and achieve department objectives.
