About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst I is responsible for conducting various routine and ad hoc reporting including historical and projected statistical, financial, labor, productivity, and patient-level financial reports. This individual provides analytical support and education to operational leaders across Children's Mercy to facilitate informed decision making. Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. Plus 1-2 years' experience.
  • Requires extensive knowledge in the application of technology and computer systems. Must be advanced in Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with financial planning & analysis, cost accounting, information technology implementation, and budget/reporting in a health care environment (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of clinical data and hospital information systems (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Maintains data integrity and privacy:
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the flow of data through the FP&A systems including inputs from source systems and outputs
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the dimension tables within the FP&A systems
  • Creates regular and ad hoc reports and performs analysis for various levels of leadership throughout the organization:
  • Understand financial statements, measures, dashboards, reports, and data
  • Assimilate large quantities of data using various reporting systems
  • Understand relevant processes, systems, and tools
  • Identify opportunities for improvement
  • Assist with the tracking of improvement measures
  • Assist with the development of financial business plans and track actual performance to plan
  • Serve as a strategic partner with leaders throughout the organization by respectfully investigating and answering financial questions:
  • Facilitate discussions with peers to resolve questions, issues, and concerns posed by leadership
  • Sustain personal and professional curiosity and continuous learning
  • Communicate transparently with partners, peers and leadership
  • Complete tasks and manage deadlines
