Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee’s primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company’s remote work guidelines.
Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.Job Summary
Performs business financial processes including project evaluation, activity based management, budgeting, forecasting, business performance reporting, financial/operational auditing, tax preparations, and/or regulatory filings. Establishes long-term and short-term financial plans; budgets and forecasts; consolidating detailed financial budgets and quarterly forecasts for cost centers, business units and/or strategic business units; reporting and analyzing business performance; performing system maintenance for the business performance reporting systems; performing and/or supporting cost center, business unit and/or strategic business unit project evaluation, performing and/or supporting cost center and/or business unit activity based management. Scope and number of processes may vary depending on team. This senior level role is part of a CFO wide Progression with potential rotations into Audit Services, Controller's Office, Investor Relations, Regulatory Affairs, Tax, and/or Treasury.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or Economics & the knowledge / capabilities typically acquired through 5+ years of job-relevant experience
• Ability to communicate and present information (written / oral)
• Develop, revise and maintain Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations
• Analytical, Critical Thinking Time/Work Management
• Knowledge of the Business Ability to foster business relationships
• Understanding of Accounting Operations
• Knowledge of budgets/forecast

Nice To Haves

• Interest/experience in data analytics and reporting
• Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
• Experience with ERP systems such as: SAP/Maximo, PeopleSoft, Oracle
• Experience working with large volume of validations of data

Responsibilities

• Analyzes complex cost centers, business unit or strategic business unit financial information in order to prepare budgets and forecasts. Identify opportunities to improve performance.
• Reports and analyzes business performance including producing variance reports for cost center, business unit or strategic business unit; Analyze results; Compare actual results to budget and to most current forecast; Prepare inputs to the monthly board reports.
• Analyzes capital projects and new business opportunities using corporate standards and develops alternatives and recommendations.
• Utilizes Activity Based Cost models to analyze costs and identify opportunities for cost savings. Work with Business Unit leaders to effectively use cost data.
• Monitors cost center, business unit and/or strategic business unit performance in relation to balanced scorecard measures.
• Monitors work practices and utilizes continuous improvement and lean systems methodology to drive out costs.
• Creates a positive working environment by supporting DTE Energy and CFO initiatives including training and development, diversity, work and personal life balance and enterprise core values.
• Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives, cross functional teams and projects.
