About The Position

This person reports to the Accounting Manager. The primary purpose of the job is to assist in all Accounting functions. This person will be responsible for balancing the daily activity of the Credit Union, compile the appropriate journal vouchers to post activity, research discrepancies and make appropriate adjustments. This person will reconcile, research and clear outstanding items in assigned General Ledger asset, liability and equity accounts. This person will also assist our service centers and internal departments to correct outages or open items which affect the General Ledger accounts. Why Provident? Our values are: · Listen · Get Better · Do What’s Right Essential Functions: Sound understanding of ASC 842 and working with both landlords and lease agreements in calculating lease liability and Right of Use Assets in accordance with GAAP. Proven track record of filling documentation gaps, and being an example to the team for good documentation standards. • Compile data from internal and external reports, research discrepancies and post activity on a daily basis. • Balance and reconcile complex, assigned General Ledger accounts and post entries to clear balances on a monthly basis. • Provide support to all positions within Accounting Department during absences, vacations and high work volume periods. • Provide training to new and existing employees. • Establish, maintain and update procedures for applicable functions quarterly. • Assist in any other areas as requested by management. • Communicate any backlog or training issues to manager. • Provide excellent service to vendors, members and co-employees. • Be knowledgeable of all rules, regulations, policies and procedures as they pertain to the Accounting job responsibilities. • Performs other duties as assigned.• Excellent listening and speaking skills.• Excellent written communication skills.• Complete required BSA & OFAC training annually.• Understand and adhere to BSA and OFAC policy and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as financial accountant
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with Excel or other spreadsheet software.
  • Proficiency with Word or equivalent word processing software.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Knowledge in all accounting areas
  • This position is a strong support position to senior management of the organization who rely on the content and the accuracy of reports produced to make decisions.
  • This person must work well both independently and as a team, and maintain good cooperative interaction with middle and senior management, and members of other departments
