Job Summary: Serves as the financial business partner to the General Manager. Provides continual assessment of the performance, with early warning of potential problems and opportunities so that appropriate, timely corrective actions may be instituted to preserve the Company's financial goals. This position prepares the monthly financial statements for Cubic entities and subsidiaries. This position works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Four-year college degree. Accounting or similar preferred.
  • Eight (8)+ years of related experience, preferably in a contracting and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel, management, and external auditors.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification or MBA preferred.
  • Public accounting experience as well as experience managing an accounting team desired.
  • DoD accounting and SAP experience is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing effective accounting departments and/or working with public accounting teams.
  • Exposure to foreign currency transactions and consolidations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides financial information to GM in the preparation of monthly business reviews, annual operating plans, and strategic plans.
  • Reviews and prepares monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Reviews and prepares general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Prepares or reviews account analyses for management and internal/external auditors.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information such as forecast vs actuals, trend analysis, and variation analysis and provides insights to GM.
  • Prepares financial walks.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the timely availability of accurate financial information to management.
  • Approves checks and wire transfer requests for payment.
  • Assists in the financial analysis of possible acquisitions, divestitures, major capital expenditures, or other specific projects, as required.
  • Manages the accounting group that performs the general ledger accounting function (if applicable).
  • Provides necessary training and supervision of accounting staff (if applicable).
  • Ensures departmental compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintains or reviews documentation necessary for the audit of Cubic’s financial statements and its system of internal accounting controls over financial reporting.
  • Provides quality analysis and financial information to operating and corporate management.
  • Prepares other financial reports or analyses, as required.
