About The Position

The Senior Finance Manager - Strategic Initiatives at Abbott is responsible for leading financial analytics tied to strategically important projects within the Structural Heart Medical Device division. This role focuses on driving value creation through fact-based financial analysis, collaborating with various teams to improve gross margins, and overseeing the end-to-end business case process for investment opportunities across the manufacturing network.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis, preferably in the manufacturing space, with direct experience in value creation/margin improvement across manufacturing networks and supply chains.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance; MBA preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of Cost Accounting concepts and exposure to manufacturing levers of gross margin improvement.
  • Strong organization, communication, and critical thinking/problem-solving skills.
  • Drive and passion, including influencing skills.
  • Solid technical skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and finance systems (Essbase, ERP, SAP).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the gross margin improvement process, identifying and executing large-scale operational initiatives in collaboration with manufacturing sites, supply chain, and R&D teams.
  • Develop and own financial assessments of business cases requiring investment across the manufacturing network.
  • Oversee the end-to-end business case process, including financial analysis of value creation ideas.
  • Act as the finance representative in the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process relevant to Manufacturing/Quality workstreams.
  • Collaborate with the Operations leadership team to assign targets, develop project pipelines, support execution, track progress, and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and deploy tools and processes to evaluate and identify opportunities across the manufacturing P&L.
  • Ensure high-impact programs are defined, resourced, and implemented to achieve financial objectives as outlined in the Annual and Long-Range Plans.
  • Develop and execute a long-term strategy and roadmap for gross margin profile improvement, including cost glides for key products.
  • Present program progress, risks, and escalate decisions needed to Business Unit leadership.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects as required.
