About the position

Illumina is seeking a Senior Finance Director to provide finance and business leadership to its AMR organization to drive short- and long-term strategic goals and priorities. This critical role must advise and influence the AMR Head of Region and other key members of senior management on investment priorities, decision support, financial planning and forecasting, budgeting and policy matters. This role is a key advisor to the AMR leadership team, assisting in the formulation of regional strategies to support a multi-year growth agenda. This leadership position reports to the Global Commercial CFO and serves as the head of commercial finance in AMR, partnering with key stakeholders in the region, as well as globally. This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity to understand and directly influence the Illumina AMR business, helping to develop its strategies and address its challenges. As this position is a key leader in the AMR and Global Commercial Finance leadership team, the AMR Commercial Finance Sr. Director will be a well-rounded finance leader with experience managing the finance function for a large, global organization, ideally in life sciences, medical technology, pharma, or high-tech industries.

Responsibilities

  • Key finance business partner to the AMR Head of Region and senior leadership team, with direct engagement in global finance strategy.
  • Provide strategic, enterprise-aligned financial insight to formulate business strategies & growth plans.
  • Drive execution of strategic growth plans to deliver on short-term and long-term goals, ensuring financial strategies are aligned with broader corporate objectives.
  • Anticipate business trends, assess risks and recommend alternative solutions to meet financial and business objectives.
  • Influence business strategy and policy decisions through partnering with senior leaders to enable organization to meet its strategic initiatives.
  • Drive the annual budgeting process.
  • Direct, manage, and influence all input required for budget, working closely with AMR Leadership team, global commercial team and global functional teams.
  • Lead the quarterly and monthly forecast processes, working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Customer Service & Support, Sales Operations, and Supply Chain to drive forecast accuracy, scenario planning, and strategic decision-making.
  • Drive process innovation and enhancements to the budget and forecast processes to optimize forecast accuracy and process efficiency.
  • Direct and develop the quarterly business review reports and other appropriate financial presentation materials to support business decision making.
  • Develop appropriate presentation material for business reviews and present to business leaders.
  • Lead financial modeling efforts to support new operating decisions and investment opportunities and ensure that the appropriate financial and business risks have been identified and evaluated.
  • Forecast, monitor, analyze and communicate actual vs. forecast / budget variances regularly to the Region Head and functional heads, to drive operational changes.
  • Drive continuous improvements in business processes.
  • Partner and work closely with the Shared Service Center / Service Providers on any accounting & tax matters.
  • Assist with implementing Company's policies and procedures to ensure the protection of Company assets through established internal control systems.
  • Provide training and insights to support team to enhance financial acumen.
  • Lead, develop & motivate the AMR Finance team including matrix reporting members by fostering a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and professional development.
  • Actively engage in cross-functional leadership efforts, supporting company-wide financial initiatives and strategic projects.
  • Undertake and complete other ad-hoc projects.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 20 years of related experience, with 12+ years of Management experience.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant accounting and financial experience in a multinational environment preferred.
  • Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field is preferred.
  • MBA and/or CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • An energetic self-starter with excellent inter-personal skills who can communicate across all levels in the organization.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, planning and decision making skills, including understanding numeric and business relationships.
  • Critical thinker and good business acumen i.e. go beyond numbers.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and accounting principles, such as budgeting processes, forecasting, financial modeling, etc.
  • Good understanding of US & local GAAP.
  • Hands on experience in planning & forecasting systems, Cognos, TM1 & SAP.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Proven leadership skills and management experience leading teams.
  • Strong organization, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Prior biotechnology, medical device or pharmaceutical industry experience desired.
