About The Position

Senior Financial Analyst – GPSC Supply Chain Finance is a fully qualified individual contributor responsible for independently driving operational efficiency and cost optimization across GM’s supply chain through robust financial management and insightful analysis. This role consolidates supply-chain-related budgets and forecasts, delivers transparent performance reporting, and partners closely with Supply Chain operations, GPSC buyers, and FP&A to influence decisions and improve financial results. The analyst will own budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning (LTP) for key Supply Chain cost buckets (e.g., premium freight, logistics operating centers (LOCs), containers/outside services, and other structural costs), while also supporting targeted resiliency and protection-of-supply initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Finance, Accounting, or related business roles (automotive, manufacturing, or supply chain preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting concepts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, accruals, inventory, and cost allocation).
  • Demonstrated advanced Excel skills (modeling, complex formulas, scenario analysis) and proficiency with PowerPoint and other Office tools.
  • Experience with finance systems such as SAP (eSAP/S4), Hyperion, and related reporting tools (e.g., BI, data warehouses).
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, prioritize multiple deadlines, and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate and manage supply chain budget & forecast for GMNA Supply Chain, including premium freight, LOCs, containers, outside services, and other structural costs; provide clear variance explanations and drivers in monthly reporting packages.
  • Lead forecasting cycles (monthly, quarterly, annual) for Supply Chain, aligning assumptions with macro environment, volume outlook, and enterprise priorities; coordinate inputs and R&Os across operations and FP&A stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models for key cost drivers (e.g., premium freight risk tracking, LOC spend by site and type, containers/outside services), enabling proactive identification of trends, hotspots, and optimization opportunities.
  • Monitor and report supply chain performance through regular dashboards and month-end packages; synthesize large volumes of complex data into concise, actionable insights for leadership up to and including GPSC Finance and Supply Chain executive directors.
  • Identify and drive cost-reduction and efficiency initiatives in partnership with Supply Chain operations and GPSC buyers, including premium freight mitigation, structural cost optimization, and process improvements that enhance data quality and transparency.
  • Support resiliency and protection-of-supply projects, including business cases for inventory banks, protection-of-supply programs, and other strategic initiatives; challenge assumptions, frame scenarios, and articulate financial impact and risk trade-offs.
  • Ensure strong controllership and compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and SOX requirements; support continuous improvement of reporting processes and documentation.
  • Present key analyses and recommendations to senior leadership in GPSC Finance and Supply Chain, simplifying results using clear storytelling, key learnings, and recommended actions.
  • Lead by example on GM behaviors, contributing to a positive Workplace of Choice culture, mentoring junior analysts where applicable, and actively engaging in GPSC Finance culture, recruiting, or committee activities.
