PURPOSE OF THE JOB The purpose of Senior Field Premium Auditor is to analyze, review, and/or conduct insurance premium audits in the field to determine the actual exposures and premium to be charged for policy coverages. This role will audit policyholder’s records and apply rules and company standards. This position exists to ensure accurate and efficient field audits while providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required with a major or emphasis in Accounting, Business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of related experience as a Field Premium Auditor required.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of Commercial Lines policies (i.e., Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, other commercial lines coverages as applicable.
  • Experience working with WCRIB, NCCI, and other independent bureaus is highly desirable.
  • Must be aware of and understand a variety of payroll and accounting systems, and the differences in Workers’ Compensation jurisdictions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.
  • Solid math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Position may require overnight travel – up to 25%
  • In conducting audits and performing other tasks, works with computers and computer screens for multiple hours per day; must be able to lift and carry 25-40 pounds.
  • Position is sedentary approximately 75% of time.
  • Must be able to drive and be comfortable working independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Carrier experience preferred.
  • Associate in Premium Auditing (APA), Certified Insurance Premium Auditor (CIPA), or Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs audits in the field for organizational accounts and resolves applicable disputes.
  • Conducts timely and accurate premium and service audits, examining financial records pertaining to stated premium base.
  • Manages audits on larger and more complex accounts and assists in resolving complex disputes.
  • Delivers excellent customer service for the entire audit experience including responding to disputes.
  • Provides technical assistance and resolves technical issues with internal and external customers including reviewers, underwriters, and agents.
  • Communicates with customers, agents, and external constituencies throughout audit.
  • Connects with insureds, agents, and company personnel to communicate and provide audit findings and ensure understanding of the change in premium exposures.
  • Consults with NCCI/WCIRB and other independent bureaus regarding classification and technical issues.
  • Presents status of audit inventory on a regular basis to management.
  • Keeps current on information relative to premium auditing through internal and external resources.
  • Partners with customers to ensure a professional and expeditious audit.
  • Examines policyholder’s payroll records and operations.
  • Records and summarizes proper payroll and classification used to determine premium.
  • Implements an analysis of insured’s business operations to determine appropriate classifications and exposures.
