About The Position

A Senior Field Manager in Outside Plant (OSP) Construction is a high-level leadership role responsible for the oversight, planning, and execution of telecommunications infrastructure projects. Projects may include long haul, middle mile and FTTx. This role will oversee both internal field crews and external subcontractors to ensure that fiber optic network installations—including aerial and underground deployments—are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Requirements

  • Experience: 8–10+ years in telecommunications OSP construction, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent extensive field experience is often accepted.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of FTTx, aerial and underground fiber installation methods, splicing, and permitting processes. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Office, GIS, SAP) and the ability to read construction drawings are essential.
  • Certifications: Valid driver's license with a clean record is mandatory.
  • Must be able to pass drug screen and background check

  • Professional certifications like PMP or CCM are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Field Leadership & Team Management: Directly oversee and mentor a team of Construction Managers, field supervisors, and inspectors. They provide daily direction and resolve escalated field issues related to logistics, crew performance, and safety.
  • Project Oversight & Coordination: Manage the entire lifecycle of OSP projects, from pre-construction bid walks to final punch list walks and closeouts. They collaborate with engineering and permitting teams to align construction activities with project timelines.
  • Financial & Resource Management: Accountable for project budgets, P&L, capital expenses, and invoicing. This includes ordering materials, managing inventory, and ensuring fleet vehicles and equipment are utilized efficiently.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to OSHA standards and company safety protocols. They conduct regular site audits to ensure work meets quality standards and regulatory requirements, such as NESC and NEC.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, municipalities, and regulatory bodies. They negotiate with vendors and subcontractors and assist in the development of project proposals and contracts.
