The Senior Field Cost Engineer at Bechtel Corporation will play a crucial role in managing cost engineering processes for the Thacker Pass Project, which is set to become the largest lithium resource facility in the United States. This position involves collaborating with project leads to implement change control, risk management, and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with established project controls processes. The role requires a strong focus on maintaining cost budgets, forecasting expenses, and monitoring contractor progress to support the project's financial health and operational success.

  • Maintain cost budgets and accurate cost forecasts, utilizing a change management system and monitoring project status.
  • Monitor progress of field contractors, forecast monthly incurred costs, prepare monthly cost accruals, and explain variances.
  • Perform budget allocation and reporting/cost control for specific construction disciplines.
  • Assist in preparing cost data for proposals and contract negotiations, reconciling received bids with control budgets.
  • Oversee preparation of budgets for purchase and construction contracts, ensuring scope and cost reconciliation.
  • Ensure approved trends and changes are incorporated in the project estimate at completion (EAC) and budget for cost and quantities.
  • Assist in developing and implementing requirements for cost recording, cost coding, reporting, and analyzing standards.
  • Prepare routine performance reports and special studies related to assigned scope for presentation to management.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in cost engineering or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • 10 or more years of EPC/EPCM experience in Project Controls, with at least 3 years on a Bechtel large or major project.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication, with experience interfacing with project team members and contractors.
  • Proficiency with Bechtel Project Controls cost operating systems and MS Office applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare work products independently and respond to urgent project requests.
  • AACE-CCP and PMP Certifications are preferred.
