About The Position

The position involves designing and developing multi-fiber module packaging for fiber optic devices and modules. This includes creating the physical structures such as enclosures, fiber mounting, connections, and sealing. The role requires conducting packaging design simulations and analyses to ensure compliance with operating conditions, including vibration, shock, and environmental testing. The candidate will select appropriate materials considering factors like thermal stability, mechanical strength, and thermal expansion, while also identifying vendors for parts. Responsibilities include generating specifications to meet performance requirements and cost targets, developing manufacturing fixtures, inspection processes, and running reliability/qualification tests to verify the performance and reliability of the optical module. The role also involves releasing designs to manufacturing, leading the transfer to production, and providing technical support and failure analysis.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Telecom, optomechanical engineering, physics, or related technical fields.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience.
  • Multidisciplinary background in optics, materials science, mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Familiarity with telecom fibers, cables, connectors, epoxies, and sealing mechanisms.
  • Ability to work independently in mechanical design with SolidWorks and other software.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks and projects effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read, learn, and analyze complex materials and processes.
  • Ability to search for solutions and develop innovative solutions.
  • Ability to work proactively with external suppliers.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
