The Senior Fellow in the Energy Security and Climate Change Program at CSIS is responsible for leading research initiatives related to global oil and gas markets, energy security, and the intersection of energy and geopolitics. This role involves conducting high-quality research, engaging with external stakeholders, participating in fundraising efforts, and contributing to the overall operations of the program.

  • Collaborate with the program director to plan and conduct in-depth research and analysis projects on energy security and related policy issues.
  • Publish reports, policy briefs, and commentaries on the CSIS website and in reputable journals and external platforms.
  • Monitor global trends in energy markets, climate policy, and international security.
  • Engage with policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and media to disseminate research findings.
  • Represent CSIS at conferences, seminars, and policy discussions globally.
  • Build and maintain a network of contacts in government, industry, academia, and NGOs.
  • Provide expert commentary and analysis to media outlets.
  • Collaborate with the program director to raise support for projects and initiatives.
  • Engage with corporate partners through executive-level meetings and briefings.
  • Manage quarterly roundtables with CSIS corporate members and supporters.
  • Assist in organizing events, workshops, and conferences hosted by the program.
  • Supervise junior staff and interns in research tasks, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Coordinate with director and administrative staff for efficient program operations.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and development activities for the program and CSIS.
  • 6+ years of demonstrated work experience at a senior level in international or public policy development and research.
  • Substantial knowledge and network related to energy and climate issues.
  • Entrepreneurial approach to identify challenges and realize policy-relevant solutions.
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with private sector, governments, and international institutions.
  • Demonstrated verbal, written, and communication skills, with proficiency in public speaking.
  • Salary range between $85,000 and $200,000, commensurate with experience.
