About The Position

Scope: The Mechanical Engineer will serve primarily as the engineer focusing on FEA for new product development projects. The Engineer will provide high-level computational analysis support and critical review of designs at the project leader's or design engineer's request across the business functions. Duties and Responsibilities: Perform advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to support new product development initiatives, ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements. Provide high‑level computational analysis support to project leaders, design engineers, and cross‑functional stakeholders throughout all stages of design. Conduct critical reviews of mechanical designs, offering data‑driven insights and recommendations to improve function, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness. Support manufacturing and operations teams by performing analysis on existing products, tooling, and assembly processes as needed. Collaborate closely with multi‑disciplinary teams, contributing engineering insight during brainstorming sessions, concept development, and blue‑sky innovation discussions. Develop, validate, and maintain analytical models, ensuring accuracy and consistency in simulation results. Prepare clear, comprehensive engineering reports that document methodology, assumptions, findings, and recommendations. Stay current with advancements in engineering software, hardware, and simulation methodologies, proactively identifying opportunities to improve analysis precision and efficiency. Recommend and implement improvements to modeling workflows, tools, and best practices to enhance the speed and quality of deliverables. Ensure adherence to engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality procedures throughout all analysis-related work. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on FEA methods, tools, and best practices (if applicable to level). Participate in design reviews and project meetings, serving as the subject matter expert for computational analysis and structural performance. Support testing and validation activities, correlating physical test results with simulation predictions to improve model accuracy. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent, with demonstrated engineering skills emphasizing computational simulation & modeling. Over 5 years of industrial experience utilizing engineering software including ANSYS (Mechanical, Autodyn, Fluent), SolidWorks, and other simulation tools for new product development and product enhancements. Knowledge of LS-DYNA is a plus. Experience in applying non-linear static structural, transient explicit dynamics methods, and Computational Fluid dynamics (CFD) on real-world problem-solving. Analyze FEA simulation data, providing conclusions and design recommendations in report format using Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree (MS/Ph.D.) in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent with emphasis on computational simulation. Materials experience in determining material properties and test methods for polymer materials. Experience with ANSYS Mechanical and Polymer Fem Mcalibration. Experience in applying non-linear static structural and transient explicit dynamics methods using polymer materials to real-world problem-solving. CFD Experience
