About The Position

The Senior Failure Analysis Lab Technician will run and maintain failure analysis (F/A) equipment and provide F/A results in a timely manner. This position is part of the Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE), which is a University of Texas at Austin-supported semiconductor consortium focused on developing advanced manufacturing technologies. The role involves working with cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes to support national security and economic growth.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Eight years experience in sample preparation and failure analysis techniques
  • Goal-oriented and ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in teams

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or a higher degree in science, engineering or other relevant disciplines
  • Ten years experience in sample preparation and failure analysis techniques
  • Experience with semiconductor equipment and processes
  • Experience in a research or start-up environment

Responsibilities

  • Run dual-beam FIBs and SEM/X-Ray data collection with complementary surface science analytical tool operations
  • Perform detailed sample preparation to enable feature measurements, defect detection and domain-specific failure analysis
  • Present results, compile reports and work in a team incorporating feedback from engineers and other technicians
  • Develop processes-of-record and implement these on product samples for customers
  • Perform other related functions as assigned
