Position Summary The Senior Facilities Mechanic is the site technical lead for rotating mechanical equipment. This role is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, precision rebuilds, and repair of motors, pumps, bearings, seals, and drive systems supporting critical GMP utilities and facility infrastructure. This is a hands-on mechanical leadership position focused on rebuild quality, failure reduction, and equipment performance.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience rebuilding pumps and motors.
  • Experience replacing bearings and mechanical seals.
  • Experience performing precision alignment.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and P&IDs.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmaceutical or GMP experience.
  • Millwright background.
  • Vibration analysis familiarity.
  • Formal rotating equipment or alignment training.

Responsibilities

  • Lead tear-down and rebuild of: • Electric motors • Centrifugal and positive displacement pumps • Gearboxes • Bearing assemblies • Mechanical seals • Couplings and drive systems
  • Perform bearing removal and installation using proper methods.
  • Inspect shafts, housings, fits, and tolerances.
  • Replace seals, packing, and gaskets.
  • Reassemble equipment to manufacturer specifications.
  • Support startup and operational verification after rebuild.
  • Perform laser and dial-indicator alignment.
  • Verify soft foot, coupling condition, and base integrity.
  • Install new pumps and motors as required.
  • Ensure proper torque values and installation practices.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures such as: • Premature bearing wear • Seal leakage • Shaft misalignment • Cavitation • Excessive vibration • Overheating
  • Lead mechanical Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for repeat failures.
  • Recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Complete accurate work orders in CMMS.
  • Document rebuild findings and failure observations.
  • Follow LOTO, confined space, and site EHS requirements.
  • Maintain clean and compliant mechanical spaces.
  • Provide guidance to mechanics during complex rebuilds.
  • Verify alignment and rebuild quality prior to startup.
  • Mentor junior technicians on proper mechanical practices.
  • Coordinate with vendors during major rebuilds.
