About The Position

Overview: 16 hrs/week, day/night rotation, every other to every third weekend Job Description Summary: Performs basic supportive care to specified patients and families under the direction and supervision of an RN or Care Manager. Collects, documents, and reports data to the RN Care Manager but does not interpret data. Demonstrates competence in providing age-appropriate care and service for pediatric patients from birth to 21 years, and selected adults. Job Description: Essential Functions: Provides care using a Family Centered approach. Provides basic supportive care pertaining to nutrition, mobility, and elimination. Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological and social needs of patients and families. Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism and ensures confidentiality of patient information. Collects, documents, and reports vital signs such as: Temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure or mean arterial pressure, heights, and weights. Completes screening questions and documents all items into the electronic health record. Promotes general patient safety and performs minor specimen collection and testing. Holds, positions patients and assists with procedures. Preps all materials and supplies as needed. Documents according to organizational standards, policies and procedures. Identifies learning needs and participates in educational activities as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Last semester of senior year in a nationally accredited nursing program, baccalaureate preferred.
  • Current CPR (BLS for Healthcare Provider), required.
  • Sound written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills.
  • Displays a positive presence and interacts with all levels of staff.
